Live Updates: Fourth Quarter — Cowboys 24, Giants 17

Tony Romo and the Cowboys open up the 2012 N.F.L. season against Eli Manning and the Giants.
Any hope that was left for the Giants was just dashed as Romo comes up huge again, hitting Ogletree again on third down and long for a first down. Had the Giants stopped the Cowboys there, Manning would have had just under two minutes to get the Giants a potential game-tying score. We’re now at the two-minute warning and Dallas will run out the clock as the Giants have no timeouts left.
Manning finally finds the end zone, hitting his tight end Bennett for a nine-yard score. The Giants converted on two fourth-down conversions on the drive. There is just 2:31 left on the clock, but the Giants have two timeouts. If they stop Dallas here, there’s still time.
The Giants are down to the Dallas 18-yard-line and facing a third and six, with just 3:26 remaining.
In Week 14 last season, Manning led the Giants to a stunning comeback against Dallas. The Giants were down by 12 with under six minutes to go and Giants were able to overcome the deficit. Similar situation here, but we’re down to 4:38 left, Giants at the Dallas 37-yard-line.
And there it is, folks. The Cowboys appeared to be self-destructing a bit, with a series a penalties that pushed them out of field-goal range. But Romo found Austin for a 34-yard score and things look bleak for the defending Super Bowl champions.
The Giants are on the ropes, and are one swift right hook away from dropping their first game of the season. Romo has the Cowboys on the move again and a touchdown here will likely put this game out of reach. Dallas is on the New York’s 13-yard line with 7:07 left in the game.
